The trials and tribulations of a young blood attorney.
"You know what? Yeah, maybe 99 out of 100 people will disappoint you. But I don't know....I think you find the magic of the world in the margin of error." --Hart of Dixie
Today is Tuesday. And I almost forgot. But boy oh boy oh boy do I have some good tunes for YOU!
Jenny got back on her acoustic kick (I have to be giving you whiplash with all my musical genres lately. Good news though! I think you'll be okay.) This week I stumbled upon some wonderful goodness. And I'm being serious. A couple years ago I found this guy by the name of Matthew McGinn. Turns out, him and this cute little girl got together and started a group called Caroline County. And now I'm obsessed. And soon, you will be too!
This first video is my favorite Matthew McGinn song. It's called "Better With You." This video is a little......odd. It's set to pictures and footage of Ellen Degeneres with her lover. So......it's safe to say it's a little awkward. But still, a good tune.
Matthew McGinn--Better With You
This next song is Matthew with his new lady friend, Julia Sheers (I don't think they're dating. But they probably should be.) Once again, these guys are called Caroline County. They have a bunch of remakes but also a few songs of their own. So I shall give you both :)
Caroline County--Kiss Me or Not
Julia Sheer--Airliner
And last but not least is my man Ross Copperman. I don't know if any of you discovered him a few years ago when he did his piano version of "Bleeding Love," but I fell head over heels. He's got some new songs out now and yep, you guessed it. I'm still in love. My favorite new song of his is called "Effortless," but of course, there's no video for it (but it is on iTunes). So for today you'll just have to settle for the video I could find. It's a song called "Holding On and Letting Go."Songs like this make me wish I was still on the bus late at night traveling for softball. Good thinking tunes :)

I hope you enjoyed today's acoustic fantasticness! Have a lovely lovely week!
So.....um....I saw Brantley Gilbert last week? After Jason Aldean and Eric Church, I think it's safe to say Brantley falls in at a solid 3 on my list of all time favorites. Country. Rocker. Badass. What more do you need? Anywho, he played us a couple songs he just wrote and hadn't played for anyone yet (or at least that's what they say). BUT....the songs....were BOMB. Naturally. I recorded one of them. Because I could just tell it was gonna be awesome. And it was. Duh. I had to work some magic to get the video transferred to my computer, but you should be thankful you can't actually SEE the video. You would probably get sick watching it. I was slightly....err.....under the influence. I even giggled at myself in the middle of it. Oh. And you'll have to excuse my loud yelling. People say I get it from my mom. I don't know what they're talking about.......
ANYWAY.....the song is called "You and Me Against the World." Or at least I think it is. Or at least that's what I'm calling it. Or at least I just wanted to say or at least again.
I think you'll like it. ENJOY!

P.S. Brian Davis is singing with him. Just in case you're wondering why there are two manly voices. Baha.
I was going through my blog and found this draft that I never posted. Turns out, it's quite hilarious. Since the first year is over and all we can do now is laugh, I figured I'd post this bad boy and give you guys a little glimpse into the last 9 months of my life. It's HIGHLY entertaining. Enjoy!

So one disastrous evening earlier this semester, one of my fellow classmates and I were having a lovely texting conversation about all the non-sense we've been doing since we started law school. Essentially, we are now utterly pathetic, find ourselves flipping shit at the drop of a hat, falling asleep in our chairs, and turning into substance abusers.
But on a much lighter note.....
The conversation turned into a stand up comedy show, with us throwing back and forth one liners that we would either A) Want to title a book or B) Want our MTV special of 'True Life' to be called. The following ensued:
1) True Life: I Just Woke Up In My Computer Chair and I'm Pretty Sure I Was Drooling. 2) Life Styles of the Poor and Sleep-Deprived. 3) True Life: We F#$%ing Suck. 4) True Life: I Drink Half Bottles of Wine Just to Get Through My Homework During the Week and By Friday I Want to Die. 5) True Life: I Wake Up In the Middle of the Night Thinking I've Just Been Called On 6) True Life: My Classmate is Russian and Wears Fur to Class 7) The Law School Library: Where All Your Wildest Dreams Come True (At Least While I'm Napping) 8)True Life: I Never Knew a Mormon 'til I Went to Law School
And recently, we've had some more pretty good one liners from our professors. They might just take the cake.
1) You're not stupid, you're ignorant. 2) You're lucky I'm not currently exercising my second amendment right. 3) If you can't identify the issues, the dental school is over there. 4) Well, I guess actually F$%#ING the draft might be illegal. Not entirely sure how you'd do that. 5) The secret to writing a good multiple choice exam is to write the wrong answers so that they prey on the confusion that lives in the students mind. Muwahaha! 6) Shut up and go sit the F$%# down. 7) Oh my goodness! My phone went off. That's so weird. Usually no one ever calls me. Except Nate. Sometimes Nate texts me. I'm so popular! 8) I'd like to say she landed on her feet but really, she landed on her back, in playboy. 9) This isn't a restatement of anything, this is intellectual masturbation. 10) Because no one has ever been to a carnival and been sexually attracted to someone that works there. 11) How exactly do you service a Howdy Doody? 12) Can you make it real to me? Your response wasn't entirely intellectual. 13) We have a case here where people are literally SHACKING up! 14) I've really enjoyed having you all this semester. Well....maybe not all of you (pats student on the head). 15) I sometimes wonder today, about today. 16) My throats a little sore, and what happened to my arm? It's gone.
(Quotes courtesy of Ms. Kayla Wingard, who so graciously kept us updated on our sick law school humor all semester long.)
Oh. You've heard this song already? Um. No. You haven't.
I'm back with my weekly Tuesday Tunes Day and this week is someone who is LITERALLY dancing away with my heart (Lame. I know.) I'm sure as most of you are aware, I am a Twitter FREAK, and this can be (sometimes) the way I find my new music. But unfortunately for you, I can't reveal all my tactics. Anyway, I tend to follow my "acoustic boys" and their fellow music mates to see what they're up to and to see if I can find anything I like. But recently, I've become kind of a big deal (pause for applause). You see.....instead of ME finding them, THEY'VE been finding me. It's really social media marketing at its finest. And to be honest with you, it gets my entrepreneurial juices flowin' through the roof! Ew. (Joe George would be so proud.)
Anywho, this week's videos are by a guy named Brett Young. He requested to follow me a couple weeks ago and asked that I listen to his music. So naturally, I did. Duh. (I'll have you know, though, that I listen to their music BEFORE I let them follow me. I can't just have any old hat thinking he's the bomb.com.) What got me excited about Brett, though, is that he's played with a lot of my acoustic boys! Jason Reeves, Tyrone Wells, Tyler Hilton, just to name a few.... Also, come to find out, Brett played baseball in college until he had a career-ending injury. Now I know I don't have to tell you how I feel about this......
ANYWAY......Brett is great! So is Katie Ohh who sings with him on a couple songs. They did a remake of Lady Antebellum's "Dancing Away With My Heart," and dare I might say I actually like it BETTER than Lady A's version (sorry guys). I've probably listened to it a hundred times by now and it still gives me goose bumps. So, for today, you get one of Brett's "unreleased" songs AND his version of "Dancing Away With My Heart" with Katie Ohh. You can find Brett's new acoustic album on iTunes, and since I love you all so much, I of course gave you the link ;)
ENJOY MY DEARS!

Brett Young--"Yours To Hold"
This is the link to my favorite song of Brett's on iTunes, it's called "In Love Alone."
I've been on quite a rock music kick lately (for no particular reason......maybe...). Anywho, my second week of studying for finals has brought me back to my roots. Jason Aldean, Brantley Gilbert (who actually WRITES for Jason Aldean--you'd know this if you knew anything), and one of my new favorite boys, Casey James, have been BLASTING out my windows (figuratively AND literally. Gonna need some new speakers for my comp......but that's neither here nor there.) I really like when I get back into my country goodness. It just feels so down home and right to the core, you can't help but love it :)
So in the midst of my attempt at "studying" for finals, I have also been on some of my crazy searches for some new good tunes. Sometimes it's easy. Sometimes it's not. Either way, everyone is always like "Oh my gosh! Where did you find this stuff?" Obviously I can't tell them my secret. OBVIOUSLY.
Anyway, since my new playlist is just so kicka**, I decided to give you more than one song today. And by more than one, I mean five. (I wish you could see my face.)
ENJOY MY LOVELY LITTLE LADS!!!!
JS
P.S. If you guys have already heard these I will just apologize in advance. I have been living under a rock. A very large, heavy rock. Whatever.
Kip Moore--"Crazy One More Time"
Aaron Lewis--"Tangled Up In You"
Casey James--"Undone"
Logan Mize--"Do You Wanna Be With Me"
(It's so freaking awesome there's not even a video for it! WHOA!)
Now I know what you're thinking, "But Jenny....this song is already on the radio. I've heard this before." And while that may or may not be true, it's still not YOUR song. It's MINE. So get over it. I always do.
I got the best compliment the other day. Totally not being full of myself either. I'm being 100% FOR SERIOUS.
While I was in the middle of another one of my wild and crazy life rants, dropping F-bombs like it was nobody's business, and making myself giggle all the while, one of my friends said: "Ya know....you haven't changed one bit!" Now....for some people....this might make them stop and reconsider what they're doing with their lives. But for me, for right now, it just seemed perfect :)
Jenny's been learning some life lessons lately. Mainly, what it's like to grow up and really become who you are. Actually.....now that I mention it.....that has been my new favorite quote:
"It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are."
--E.E. Cummings
Cheesy? Yes. Dumb? Absolutely not. It seems most of us get lost on this crazy, crazy ride and forget why we're really here in the first place. And what I've been reminded of lately, is why I'm here in the first place: to make my wildest dreams come true (: What I've also been reminded of lately, is that all it takes is for someone to believe in you. And I guess while I was out here doing all this so called "chasing," I had forgotten to believe in myself. A couple of speed bumps, a couple of Reese's McFlurries, and a fewww too many cases later (and no, I'm not talking about law school).....I think I'm back on track. It hit me while I was driving the other day (not literally HIT) how many amazing people I have in my life and how many of those amazing people believe in me. In ME. Smartass, ridiculous, outright annoying, crazy, obsessive, musically absorbed, and energetically charged ME. And you know what? That might just be the coolest thing ever.
So now that I've realized there really ARE people out there that support who I am and what I'm doing, I've been using it as my little motivational tool for studying. And guess what? Now I only have 3 finals left between me and summer and I'm feelin' like a rockstar! And now that I feel so fantastical, I would like to remind you how fantastical you are too. So....any words of wisdom for my fellow dream chasers out there? Youuuuu betcha.
Rule #1: Stick to your guns.
Rule #2: Never EVER stop chasing what you want in life.
Rule #3: Don't ever let someone talk you out of you (if that makes sense).
And Rule #4: Never, not for ONE single second, forget that there's someone out there who believes in you.
Because at the end of the day, that ONE, is all that it takes.
Now.........I shall leave you with my latest "dream chasing" song. I actually got told the other day that this is "SO a Jenny song." (I had no idea what that meant until I started doing my "Jenny" dance to the beat. Eek!)
ENJOY!
JS
Mat Kearney--"Sooner or Later"
Lyrics:
We're all standing with our backs against the wall
Sooner or later
Waiting on a phone that never calls, at all
Heartbreak comes strollin' in like a storm
Sooner or later
Trying to swim but you're sinking like a stone, alone
Dave Barnes. Has been flying under my radar. But my man is back!
I found this single last week on iTunes and I was EXTREMELY upset with myself that I was not aware of it. But, GREAT news. He has a new album coming out March 13th!!!! Yeeeee haw!!!!! I love me some Dave Barnes. He is what I like to call one of "my boys." Also on that list would be Matt Wertz, Jason Reeves, Corey Crowder.....you get the point. Anywho, today's song is called "White Flag." It's super catchy and upbeat and I just like the lyrics! How wonderful. Mmkay.
